Client Case Study | Monto Bridge Replacement and Road Work
The Monto Mount Perry Road bridge was washed away during floods in 2015 and, due to our experience and reputation, QSS were tasked to assist with the construction of a new bridge.
Our client was a large civil construction company that we have been working alongside since 2011. They engaged us on behalf of the Department of Transport and Main Roads to complete the project.
Type of work required: Burnett River Bridge replacement and upgrade of approaches on Monto.
Surveying works carried out: Set out for realignment of road and multi-span bridge.
What was involved: QSS worked on this project for the duration of approximately 12 months. Our employees stayed in the local town of Monto as our services were required for days at a time.
Project outcome: Communication was of high importance on this project due to the distances that needed to be covered. Our surveyor would often gain a scope of works from the Project Manager and then proceed to work autonomously kilometres away from anyone else for hours at a time.
Documentation: Upon completion of the project, QSS completed and supplied our client with as-constructed plans – an engineering drawing detailing exactly how an asset or facility was constructed. Designs are sometimes modified during a project and if this happens the original design drawings are not a true representation of the final layout of the asset or facility. An as-constructed drawing considers any in-project changes, it is a true representation of what was built.
