A large marine and civil contractor engaged QSS on behalf of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to assist in the construction of a new boat ramp, car park and rock groyne at Burrum Heads on the Fraser Coast.
Type of surveying works being completed: Engineering – Set Out.
What was involved: About 20 site visits in total with coordination and support from our Brisbane office. We built 3D machine guidance files then set out the required boat ramp, car park and rock groyne for the construction team.
Project outcome: Being a tidal area, the timing of our site visits needed to be monitored closely. This ensured our client benefited from continuous survey works being able to be completed within one site visit saving both time and money.
Documentation: Upon conclusion of the project, QSS completed and supplied our client with as-constructed plans to ensure that the approval process from the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads went smoothly and without delay.
